Business Interruption
⇒ Actual Loss Sustained
The Insurer agrees to reimburse for the client’s actual loss sustained during the indemnity period as a direct result of an interruption to the client’s business activities caused by:
- Damage to client’s premises or contents, other than damage causing failure in the supply of water, gas, electricity, telephone or internet to client’s premises;
- Damage to third-party property within the vicinity of the client’s premises which prevents access to the client’s premises;
- Damage to the property of one of the client’s suppliers, other than a supplier of water, gas, electricity, telephone or internet;
- Failure in the supply of water, gas, electricity, telephone or internet to the client’s premises for more than 24 consecutive hours as a direct result of damage to the client’s premises or the property of the client’s supplier of water, gas, electricity, telephone or internet;
- First occurring during the period of the policy.
⇒ Rental Income
The Insurer agrees to reimburse for the client’s actual loss sustained during the indemnity period as a direct result of a reduction in the client’s rental income caused by damage to the client’s premises first occurring during the period of the policy.
⇒ Extra Expense
The Insurer agrees to reimburse for any reasonable sums over and above the client’s normal operating expenses incurred to:
- Mitigate an interruption to and continue the client’s business activities during the indemnity period, provided that the costs are less than the expected actual loss sustained had these measures not been taken;
- re-locate to alternative premises during the indemnity period, if the client and the Insurer agree that it is not practicable or reasonable for the client to repair or rebuild the damaged premises.
⇒ Newly Acquired Or Constructed Property
The Insurer agrees to reimburse for the client’s actual loss sustained during the indemnity period as a direct result of an interruption to the client’s business activities caused by damage to any additional premises acquired or constructed by the client during the period of the policy, provided that the client gives the Insurer written notice within 60 days of the acquisition or commencement of construction and agrees to any additional premium and terms of coverage required by the Insurer.
⇒ Professional Fees
The Insurer agrees to reimburse for any reasonable sums necessarily incurred for professional fees to establish the value of your actual loss sustained as a direct result of an interruption to the client’s business activities.
